Key Facts About the Austin Apartment Buildings Map

  • What it is: one interactive map of every apartment building recorded in this directory — 197 buildings holding 80,239 apartments — with a single pin for each building.
  • How it is filtered: a panel on the map lists the directory’s 16 neighborhood groupings as checkboxes, all switched on by default: Anderson Mill, Arboretum, Downtown, East Austin, East Riverside, Hyde Park, Mueller, Oak Hill, Onion Creek, South Austin, South Congress, South Lamar, Tech Ridge, The Domain, Wells Branch, and West Campus.
  • What a pin shows: clicking a pin opens a card with the building name and the street address, plus a link to that building’s full listing page.
  • What the numbered circles mean: where buildings sit close together the map groups them into a numbered circle, and the number is how many buildings are inside it. Zooming in separates the circle into individual pins.
  • What the map does not carry: no rent, no pricing, no availability and no floor plans. This directory publishes none of those values, and a pin marks a building, not an apartment available to rent today.
  • Where the fuller record lives: each pin links to a listing page that records the building’s neighborhood, year built, apartment count, floors and amenity fields. The aggregate building data and the alphabetical A–Z index of every building are published separately.

How to Use the Austin Apartment Buildings Map

Each pin represents one building in the directory, and every pin uses the same marker, so pin color does not encode a neighborhood or a category. Where several buildings sit close together the map groups them into a numbered circle; zoom in and that circle separates into individual pins.

Click any pin to open a card with the building name and the street address, then follow the link on the card to the building’s full listing page. Drag the map to move between parts of the city, and use the zoom control in the corner to move in and out. On mobile the map works the same way: pinch to zoom in on a cluster, tap a pin, and tap through to the listing.

Four groupings hold 76 of the directory’s 197 buildings: Tech Ridge with 25, The Domain with 21, Arboretum with 16 and Oak Hill with 14. Downtown and West Campus hold the tallest buildings on average, at 42.9 and 29.5 floors. Among neighborhoods averaging under five floors per building, Oak Hill, South Lamar and Wells Branch have the largest buildings by apartment count — 461, 452 and 413 units on average. Each neighborhood also has its own page listing every building in it, if you would rather browse without the map.

What the Austin Apartment Buildings Map Does Not Show

The map is a location index, not a rental listings feed. It carries no rent figures, no pricing, no availability and no floor plans, because this directory does not publish those values on any page. A pin means the building exists and is recorded here; whether an apartment is open in it, and on what terms, is a question for that building’s own leasing office.

The map is also not a census of every rental building in Austin. The directory covers the 197 largest apartment buildings in Austin — the smallest has 324 homes — so smaller apartment buildings, duplexes and single-family rentals sit outside its scope by design. The list is also deliberately incomplete: a few large properties were left out because their basic facts could not be confirmed against a published source. For the same recorded set in alphabetical order, see the A–Z building index, or search the full directory by building name, neighborhood and the five recorded amenities: pet friendly, in-unit laundry, in-building parking, air conditioning, and gym or fitness center.
