The Bowie

Endeavor Real Estate Group developed The Bowie with the San Antonio-based Lynd Company in the Market District, on the bank of Shoal Creek between the Spring condominiums and the Monarch. HKS designed it and Harvey Cleary Builders was the contractor. The City of Austin Planning Commission rejected the original proposal on the grounds that a pecan tree on the site should be protected; the scheme was revised to relocate the tree elsewhere on the property. Construction began in 2012, and the building reached 423 feet. Whole Foods Market, whose flagship store stands a block away, took roughly 41,000 square feet of office space here in 2015, above about 4,300 square feet of ground-floor retail. Residents share a rooftop infinity pool, two mid-building outdoor terraces, a dog grooming room and 24-hour concierge service. The building is certified LEED Silver. It sold in 2017 as part of a Lynd-led portfolio transaction described as record-setting for Austin on a per-unit basis; RPM Living manages the property.
