The Waller

Greystar developed, owns and manages The Waller, wrapping it around Symphony Square — the historic complex and creekside amphitheater on Waller Creek that the Austin Symphony Orchestra continues to operate. The tower replaced a Velocity Credit Union branch and the orchestra’s own offices on Red River between East 11th and East 12th streets. The orchestra took new space with a walk-up box office in the seven-story office building Greystar developed alongside it with Ivanhoé Cambridge, linked to the tower’s amenity level by a fifth-floor bridge. R2L:Architects designed the building, Michael Hsu Office of Architecture did the interiors and TBG Partners the landscape. Ground broke in June 2021 and preleasing opened in August 2023. Plans run from studios to three-bedroom penthouses, with Italian cabinetry and deep soaking tubs. A two-story indoor-outdoor fitness space holds a lap pool and a yoga room; there is also a pet lounge with a dog spa and a rooftop deck with a firepit. Jo’s Coffee occupies the lobby, part of about 5,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. The building is LEED Gold and was the first multifamily property in Austin to earn Fitwel certification.
